I began my photography pursuits in the late 1990's. I enrolled in some adult continuing education courses for photography at Marywood University in Scranton PA. It was recommended I join a local photography club (Northeast Photography Club). It was here that I learned so much from the other people in the group. I was able to win some awards there as well as in some of the local community contests. Subsequently went on to have work selected for inclusion in the 76th Annual NATIONAL Exhibition of the Cooperstown Art Association and a later contest as well. I have had work featured in B&W Magazine, three books have images of mine featured as well as several journals and online galleries. My photography has its roots going back to my early experiences with infrared film. It’s there that I saw how an image could be manipulated to something much more different than what was first seen.
I still compose some photos from the infrared spectrum only now I use a camera converted to IR. When digital came along it was an easy move to software and all the possibilities that were and are now possible with their use. Still the initial composition in camera is paramount and once the shutter is closed and image transferred to computer, I can turn my imagination loose and enhance or create something entirely new.
I write and photograph about the events and locations I attend or travel to. My favorite subjects are nature, national parks, cemeteries and music. Travel particularly is top of that list. So far I’ve traveled across this country as well as photo trips to Iceland, Italy and Nova Scotia. 2024 you will find me in Portugal and a return trip to the south coast of Nova Scotia.
All my images are photography based. A good amount of them are composites from my own images. I work with them using several professional digital tools in one or more steps, to create a one-of-a-kind work of art.
These creative processes, photography and digital art, fuel my passion and satisfies my need to create.
